Is Makula BRCGS Packaging or ISO 9001 certified?
No — and no CMMS legitimately is. Those frameworks certify the plant, not the software vendor. Makula provides the digital work orders, e-signatures, photo evidence, and audit trails your plant needs to pass them. On the software side, Makula is ISO 27001 certified and GDPR compliant.
How long does deployment take at a typical packaging plant?
A single-plant packaging deployment takes weeks, not quarters. Makula migrates your asset list, PM schedules, and tooling library from Excel, SAP PM, Fiix, or MaintainX, then trains your team on-site. Multi-plant rollouts are scoped jointly with a concrete timeline after a discovery call.
We're already on SAP PM, MaintainX, or Excel. Is switching worth it?
Most Makula customers came from one of those. SAP PM wasn't built for a converting floor. MaintainX and Fiix lack the makeready, tooling, and brand-owner audit context packaging needs. Excel breaks the moment an auditor asks for a trail. Makula migrates your data in weeks, most plants run a parallel month before cutting over.
How does Makula handle changeovers and makeready?
Changeovers are a first-class object in Makula, not a generic work order. SMED-style standard work, tooling swaps, plate changes, ink rotations, first-off checks, runs as templated work orders triggered by SKU changes. Each captures target vs. actual time and deviations, so your fastest changeover becomes the standard.
Can Makula track tooling, plates, and consumables per asset?
Yes. Dies, anvils, plates, blades, and rollers are tracked as their own asset class, tied to the line they belong to, with runtime counters, cycle counts, and replacement schedules. Consumables and mechanical spares live in the same module, so your storeroom isn't on a separate spreadsheet.
Can Makula measure OEE and feed it back into PM scheduling?
Yes. Makula ingests runtime, downtime, and cycle counts from SCADA, MES, or PLCs via OPC-UA or REST, then auto-generates cycle-count and runtime-based PM work orders. A die-cutter on a 250,000-cycle trigger fires when the line hits that count, not when the calendar says so. OEE is surfaced per line and shift.
Can Makula connect to our MES, SCADA, ERP, and brand-owner portals?
Yes. Makula has a native SAP connector for ERP master data and cost posting, MES integrations via OPC-UA or REST, and a full REST API for everything else. Audit-ready records can be pushed to brand-owner portals on a scheduled or on-demand basis.
Does the Makula mobile app work on the converting floor?
Yes. The mobile app is offline-first and ruggedized for industrial environments, proven on IP-rated devices like Zebra and Honeywell handhelds. Technicians complete, sign, and photograph work orders without signal, then sync when they walk back into Wi-Fi or cellular range.
